Breastfeeding Medicine

Breastfeeding is often described as natural, but that does not mean it always comes naturally. Many mothers encounter challenges in the early days and weeks after birth, including painful feeds, concerns about milk supply, difficulties with latching, breast inflammation, or uncertainty about whether their baby is feeding effectively. These challenges can be stressful, exhausting, and sometimes overwhelming.

As both a Family Physician and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), I provide evidence-based support for mothers and babies experiencing feeding difficulties. My approach combines medical expertise with practical lactation support, allowing me to assess both maternal and infant factors that may be affecting breastfeeding.

Common concerns I help families with include:

  • Low milk supply

  • Painful breastfeeding

  • Latch and positioning difficulties

  • Nipple pain and trauma

  • Mastitis and blocked ducts

  • Breast engorgement

  • Tongue tie and oral function concerns

  • Mixed feeding and supplementation

  • Returning to work while breastfeeding

  • Breastfeeding after caesarean birth

  • Antenatal breastfeeding preparation

Every family’s feeding journey is unique. My goal is not simply to help mothers breastfeed, but to help families find feeding solutions that are safe, sustainable, and aligned with their individual circumstances.
